ILANGA x Oude Kerk Amsterdam: Textile Stories Workshops

We’re excited to announce a new collaboration with the Oude Kerk Museum Amsterdam as part of the public programme for Kimsooja: To Breathe – Mokum.

On 16 & 30 August, ILANGA will host Textile Stories: Natural Indigo Dyeing Workshops inside Amsterdam’s oldest building.

Colour Your Memory

What’s the story behind that one piece of clothing you’ve held onto for years? In this workshop, we invite participants to reconnect with their memories by giving that garment a new colour.

Together we’ll explore the magic of indigo – a dye with a rich cultural and historical heritage – and experience its transformation from yellow to green to deep blue as it dries.

These workshops are part of the public programme for Kimsooja: To Breathe – Mokum, an exhibition that reflects on how Amsterdam has been shaped by migration and global cultures through textiles gathered from its diverse communities.
